Parent/Swimmer Code of Conduct

Parent/Swimmer Code of Conduct

The Plano Aquaducks is a recreational swim team that strives to help kids have fun while enjoying the great sport of swimming. We strive for a non-threatening
environment where kids can build character, foster exemplary sportsmanship,
experience teamwork and improve their swimming skills. To achieve this goal, all
Aquaducks’ swimmers and parents agree to the following rules of conduct.

1. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the sport is for youth, not adults.
2. I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
3. I will learn the rules of the sport and the policies of the league.
4. I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, spectators and officials.
5. I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
6. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of his/her performance.
7. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during swim meets and practices.
8. I will teach my child to respectfully listen to their coach and never talk back to him/her.

1. I will respect the coaches of the team by listening to what they say and not talking back to him/her.
2. I will treat my teammates with respect and will not belittle someone because of their performance.
3. I will never resort to violence in any situation while I am a member of the Plano Aquaducks.

Parents and swimmers agree that if they fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, they will be subject to disciplinary action that could include, but is not limited to the following:

• Verbal warning
• Written warning
• Suspension from practice/swim meet
• Indefinite suspension from all team activities
• Permanent suspension from team

*These guidelines are taken from the “Sport Parent Code of Conduct”, Sports and National Youth Safety Sports Foundation, Inc. (2003)
